Sharon Reed is a native of the Pacific Northwest and currently works as a studio artist in Bend, Oregon. From a young age she has explored and worked with a variety of artistic mediums, including painting, glass, and jewelry.
Sharon began painting in her youth. Over the years she has studied with many different artists and mediums. Currently she works primarily with oil and acrylic.
Having always had a rich inner world, she has a passion for abstraction as it allows her to be in that place where the mind cannot negotiate. The paintings take on a life of their own, surrendering to what comes forth from within. Getting out of the way is the process. Finding beauty and design in everything she sees informs the way her paintings take shape, inspiring love to come alive in the beauty of physical form. Each painting offers a unique voyage through a world that is ever present in the recesses of our mind.
In 2003, She took her first metalsmithing class and was immediately smitten! Ever since, she has been designing and creating one-of-a-kind jewelry art. The beautiful stones and fossils she collects from all over the world are often featured in her unique jewelry. Mother Earth creates these stones, displaying the most amazing patterns, designs and colors that are a showcase of their own. The energetic properties bestowed to these “gems” make them ideal for wearable art.
All of her pieces are lovingly designed and hand-wrought, using unique combinations of textured metal and stones.
